From her first appearance to the Batavia visionary, Our Lady has pleaded with God’s people to praise and honor Him as never before. She has in fact invited them to become what she calls her “Special Apostles,” working with her to help themselves and others along the way. But her appearances locally are not her only visits as a “Lady of Light.” Nor is this the first time she has asked for help in honoring her Son. As shown below, her work on His behalf is never-ceasing, ever asking for vigilant response from her beloved children.
Devotion to Mary as Our Lady of Light can be documented as early as 1682 in Sicily. Since the 18th century, February 27th has been celebrated as the feast of Our Lady of Light in Lisbon, Portugal and in Palermo, Italy. The titles “Our Lady of Light,” “Mother of Light,” and “Virgin of Light” have been used interchangeably. Our Lady of Light is the patroness of Leon, Mexico, and the painting of her as Mother of Light has been venerated in the cathedral there since 1724. The Academy of Our Lady of Light, a school for girls, was founded in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1853. Our Lady of Fatima was first perceived as “the Lady of Light.” Between 1968 and 1971, Our Lady of Light was visible to all, walking along the roof of a Coptic church in Zeitun, Egypt.
Unprecedented, however, are her public visits in which she speaks and identifies herself as the Lady of Light and the Mother of Light. Under these titles she has publicly communicated accurate assessments of our global state of affairs, made predictions that in time have been fulfilled, and detailed a blueprint, a process for personal holiness by which each individual will achieve peace.
At her first local public appearance on August 31, 1992, Our Lady of Light invited each of us to be a part of her Ministries. Hers was a call to personal holiness which she defined:
My dear children,…I come to you today to ask for your help. Yes, I need you, my children, to accomplish my plan for peace.
It is my desire that you choose now, this day, to lead a holy life and to be a good example to others.
I desire that you reclaim moral values and put the salvation of your spirit above the desires of your body.
I desire that abuse and violence be halted in order that the innocent, especially children, do not have to suffer for it.
I desire that those of you who have full cupboards share with those who have nothing.
I desire that each of you do your part to bring peace into your own community and your family. Encourage family and community prayers.
My children, do not worship false gods by placing your money and material things before the Father. Do not look to others to change their ways, but examine yourself. Do not just listen to my messages, but share them, especially with my other children that do not know me, for I have come for all my children, and I am calling them all to God’s graces.
In August of 1999, for her last public appearance, Our Lady asked that the above first message be repeated, with the addition that she was grateful for everyone’s help in her mission here and thanked each one for accepting her in their heart.
Also unprecedented was the designation of September 1st as a Day of Divine Mercy. On May 1, 1997 she said:
At my request, my Son has ordained this day, and all days of September 1st henceforth, to be days of Divine Mercy. All who come to Him with a true repentance of their sins will be bathed in His mercy and will be forgiven everything. This is my gift and His promise. Though this grace is available everywhere, it is my desire that this grace be started at My House and then flow into every other part of your world.
Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center in Norwood (Cincinnati), Ohio annually celebrates Our Lady of Light’s Days of Prayer and Mercy, August 31st and September 1st.
Her Ministries Here: For All Her Children
In the intervening years between 1992 and 1999, she often spoke of her Ministries. On February 28, 1993 she said:
My child, I have told you I would expand on “Our Lady of Light Ministries” at this visit. It is my desire that this area be an example of the Christian love that should be a part of your daily lives. From this area will come the peace to overflow and fill your nation, and then your world. But I cannot accomplish this alone. I need the help of all of you.
My House, the seminary, shall be established to renew and strengthen the leaders of the faith (priests). They shall then gather their flock and teach them in the ways of “unconditional love” which is God’s love. This should be exemplified by all of you that choose to come under my banner of Our Lady of Light Ministries.
Also, I desire that each soul be cleansed and purified by renewal of their baptismal vows and once again be reconfirmed in their faith. In this way they will be strong soldiers before they participate in the spiritual war that is now raging on your planet. After each soul is rededicated to God their Father, they should pray together for guidance from the Holy Spirit. Our Lady of Light Ministries shall become the forerunner of my mission here in this land.
Regardless of the title bestowed on me, I am the same lady. I am your Mother and the Queen of Heaven. The Father has permitted me to attend you now, and I call on each of you to walk with me into this holy battle. The evil in men must be conquered, for the fallen angel is now attacking your spirit, and his influence is taking over many of you. If you choose to come into my ministry, I desire that you align your will to the will of the Father and convert your lives back to God. This ministry shall be “my hands” and “my feet,” to walk among my children and minister to them and nourish them both in body and in spirit. Feed the hungry both in garment and in forgiveness. Shelter the homeless both in houses and in love. Console the sorrowing both in their physical loss and in loss of spirit. Comfort the grieving both in physical death and in their doubts of spiritual life.
My children, I call on you, I need you, and I implore you to listen and act. Help me to establish at this place and at this time my Healing Center of Faith, which shall be established to restore the body and heal the soul. It is my hope that each soul who answers my call shall burn with a great desire to serve God through their fellow man.
I am your Mother and thank you for your response.
Request of Her Special Apostles
On November 20, 1994, she had this to say:
My dear children, to become one of my special apostles, to become a part of my newly formed Ministries of Our Lady of Light, just do as I have requested here and all over the world:
Pray the rosary daily. Wear a blessed scapular. Consecrate yourself and your family to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Promote devotion to both Hearts. Form or join prayer groups to pray together for God’s mercy and for peace to return to mankind. Attend Holy Mass and receive the Holy Eucharist as often as possible.
Do penance and offer sacrifices for those who do not. Strive to live your life as a holy Christian in order to be a good example for all to see. In your daily encounters, whatever your walk of life, reflect only decent and moral family values. Be strong in your Christian faith and be willing to defend it. Answer the call I sent out to all my children on August 31, 1992. To those who accept my call to join my Ministries, many graces shall be granted from the Father.
In August of 1997, Our Lady spoke of her Ministries centered in our land, and over and over she asked us to pray for our leaders, as well as the leaders of the world, “Not only are certain individuals handed missions from God, but sometimes a whole nation, a people, is given a mission to aid the fulfillment of God’s plan. Be aware of this. The land of America is a great part of God’s plan in these times. Pray constantly for your leaders.”
Again, on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes in 1998, Our Lady of Light said, “Pray and fast for peace on earth and for peace within each heart. Tell them to pray for the leaders of your world. You must pray, pray, pray.”
Our Lady of Light Ministries are for everyone. Our Lady has called each of us to be her special apostle. It is her universal call to take her light, the grace of God, and “spread it into the darkness of ignorance overshadowing the earth.”
